The Manpower Academy project was delivered in different ways: motivational speech from the coach, Ted Talks on Team management, storytelling with inspirational cards, setting a goal: writing fairy tale books for children in hospitals.

The fairy tales were written after comparing everybody’s ideas and getting a final version (negotiation, flexibility and synergy among the members of the group).

The outcome
The project, beside increasing the internal engagement of the Team Managers of the pharmaceutical sector accounts, has become a CSR initiative in the context of hospitals. The multinational has embraced social responsibility while at the same time contributing to increasing the loyalty of hospitals, its B2B target.

The Challenge
The area Managers, with the common goal of bringing back a synergy in all areas, have taken part in an experience-based project, focusing on “Conflict vs. Discussion”.
From this point of view, the “Paper Boat Challenge” has had a major impact: competition, team working, water as a metaphor for a liquid element taking on any shape (like a winning mindset).

The initial ignition and eagerness to learn were generated by the emotional component of the outdoors and the gamification when building the paper boats.

Flexibility
The emotionally charged individual teams have connected when racing their paper boats: difficulties have emerged but at the same time a need for overcoming obstacles due to miscommunication, roles within the processes and the desire to feel part of a company, not locked within the limits of a function.

The development (of the talent) has happened during the debriefing straight after the challenge and the follow-up days. In this context, the winning team dynamics, after riding the emotional wave, have found their upskilling in the daily work environment.
The Outcome
The various company players engaged in the Outdoor challenge have now food for thought and for action when it comes to effective communication and ability to listen, the key for managing and avoiding conflict.
This has now introduced a new positive way of communicating with the teams.
